Sending Love

Good morning my lovelies!
It's been a while I know. I have my niece Emily staying with me for a couple of weeks, and with getting commissions done before she arrived, I haven't had chance to make (or post) anything!
I've managed to sneak a few minutes this morning (Emily is still in bed) to show you a card I did way back when I started designing for Crafts Beautiful. It was my third issue (May 2011).
Without further ado do...

What you need...

Stamps: Psych Flowers Block, Round Designers Block - Judikins; Trees, Birds & Messages (CL182) - Hero Arts
Card stock: black, white, amethyst
Ink: Lilac, Amethyst, Boysenberry - Versacolor; Onyx Black - Versafine
Fine-liner: black
Gems: clear
Ribbon: purple
Adhesives

What you do...

Stamp a cluster of circles in Lilac, Amethyst and Boysenberry ink and over stamp with black flowers across the top of white card 9.5cm x 10cm. Stamp the sentiment in the bottom right corner.

Draw a stem from one of the flowers on the left and attach a tiny bow.

Mount onto the top left of black card 10cm x 10.5cm and then onto amethyst card 11cm x 11.5cm. Attach to the top left of a white 13cm square blank. Finish with a few gems.

I have always liked the set of cards. I think you can still get the Round Designers Block, I'm not sure about the flowers though, but any round outline flowers would work just as well. Experiment!

I'm going to sign off now. Thanks for calling by and hopefully I won't be as long in posting next time. xxx

Zesty Get Well

Mornin' peepsicles!

How are you today? All keeping fit and well and not getting sun burnt.

As I am busy with commissions at the moment, I've not really had time to do any makes, so I thought I would pop by and show you a card I made for the 7 Ways With...Fruity Motifs feature in the May 2012 issue of Crafts Beautiful.

These fruity cards have proved popular, I think this is the fifth one I've shown you. This one has an orange theme.

This card has an unusual layout in that it is a side fold landscape and the last quarter of the front is cut off.

What you need...

Patterned papers: Country Drive 12" x 12" Collection Kit - Echo Park
Card stock: pale orange, orange, bright orange
Ink pad: Onyx Black - Versafine
Punch: corner rounder
Ribbon: orange grosgrain
Gel pen: white
Adhesives

What you do...

Cover the inside of a side fold landscape blank in orange card. Trim 1/4 from the front panel and cover in orange spotty paper. Round off the corners and tie orange ribbon around the end of the card front.

Download the templates and cut one whole orange slice and two halves in shades of orange, inking the edges black. Assemble the slices and highlight with white pen and adhere to the front panel. Create a sentiment on a piece of pale orange card, round the two right hand side corners and fix to the inside right.

I used a computer and printer to make the sentiment, but you could hand write one or create one using rub-on lettering.

If you want to download the templates for my fruity concoctions; you can still do so from the Crafts Beautiful website. You will need to register to be able to download templates and free patterned papers; but it's quick, simple and free!

The Country Drive Collection Kit is not widely available now, but you can still get one from here (Craftie Charlie). Any orange paper with a simple pattern would work just as well.

Well, I shall sign off for now. Hopefully I will get a couple of quick makes in. I owe you a Cricut Mini project from last week as well as this week.

Thanks for popping by, see you soon xxxx

PaperCrafter Issue 63

Mornin' all!

The weather is hot and sunny here is ol' Blighty (about time), so we are making the most of it.

The girls are now very settled in their new home. They are free ranging round the garden and are putting themselves to bed at night. They thought I was a roosting perch the other night and I had one on my shoulder and the other three on my knees!

Anyhoo, on to other stuff....

Issue 63 of PaperCrafter has now hit the shops.

This month the theme is beside the sea and it's jam packed with traditional seaside images such as, seagulls, boats and beach huts. The colours are bright and zingy. I had great fun coming up with my makes for this issue.

Apart from some of my creations in the actual magazine, I have four bonus cards on the PaperCrafter website.

For the list of what you need and all the info and how to make these projects, head on over to http://www.papercraftermagazine.co.uk/four-ideas-with-your-issue-63-kit-from-colette-smith

As usual, the magazine is full of wonderful projects, ideas and inspiration, plus there is another fantastic free gift when you subscribe; a Fiskars Paper puncher and stamping set, which includes an interchangeable border punch and continuous stamping wheel.

Why not get into the summery mood with this perfect kit and start crafting?

Thanks for calling by and I'll be back soon xxx

Thinking of You - Cricut Mini project

Hello chums!

Hope you are all looking forward to the weekend.

It's time to show you this weeks card made using the Cricut Mini.

The cartridges I have used are Cricut Essentials and Flower Shoppe. The Cricut Essentials is digital only, whereas the Flower Shoppe is available as a digital and an actual cartridge.

Cricut Essentials
Flower Shoppe

What you need...

Die cutting machine: Cricut Mini
Digital Cartridges: Cricut Essentials, Flower Shoppe - Cricut
Card stock: shades of blue, black, white, lime
Seam binding: black
Adhesives

What you do...

From Flower Shoppe, choose three of the 3D flowers and cut out in shades of blue, scrunch up and roll up to assemble and cut three leaves in lime card. Select the label from Cricut Essentials, copy and paste another, re-size, making sure one is slightly smaller. Cut out in black and white card.

Create a top fold blank, tie seam binding around the lower end of the label, fix to the top of the blank and trim the excess. Arrange and stick down the leaves and flowers, finish with a rub-on sentiment in the lower right corner.

I chose the shades of blue because I thought it would really make and impact, especially with the black, white and lime. Of course, you can apply any sentiment to suit the occasion.

Id like to introduce you to the newest members of the Smith household - my girls, Bren, Babs, Dolly and Hattie.

Bren (team leader - she has decided) and Babs are Rhode Island Reds, Dolly is a Light Sussex and Hattie is a Bluebell. They are only 13/14 weeks old, so they won't start laying for a few weeks yet.

Here is a piccy of their home. We've decided to call it the Beach Hut (well, we live near the sea and now it's painted, it looks like a beach hut).

They seem to be settling in quite nicely. They need to stay in the run for 10-14 days to get used to their new surroundings, routines, home etc. Then they can free range around the garden.

So, that's me for the nonce. Have a fab weekend and I'll be back soon - I've got a few commissions to get in, but I'll try and post a 'make' or two. xxx
